Assistant Professor of Professional Practice
A graduate of Vassar College and UM’s notable MFA screenwriting program, Barbara Leibell has written scripts for Gloria Estefan, Kenny Ortega, Jena Malone, and Rob Schneider, among others. She has won numerous screenwriting awards including Script P.I.M.P. (Pipeline Into Motion Pictures) for Best Script and was a finalist in the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences Nicholl’s Screenwriting Competition when she was a graduate student at UM. She is currently writing a live theatrical musical for Crescent Moon Entertainment in Miami Beach and launching a play based on the glorious musical history of Overtown.
